Dios: Not hoping for anything
Title: For Change and Loss and Star-Crossed Love and Lies (Part III)
Series: Harry Potter
Spoilers: Through all seven books! You heard me, so consider yourself duly warned!
Characters: Starring Emmeline Vance, Death Eater Avery (the eldest brother) and Remus Lupin in that order. Guest appearances listed alphabetically rather than in their order of appearances include the Avery family (unnamed Father, Mother, Middle Brother and Youngest Brother), Sirius Black, Edgar Bones, Antonin Dolohov, Lily Evans/Potter, Peter Pettigrew, James Potter, Fabian Prewett, Gideon Prewett, Severus Snape, Nymphadora Tonks.
Pairing(s): Avery x Emmeline and Remus x Emmeline, and if I mention anymore there would be spoilers.
Author Notes: This damned overly ambitious piece has taken me more than a year to write (I do admit I fell into a writer's funk when I accidentally deleted portions of my writing). And I also have to call this a ficmix (again), and I apologize that there is no music attached. I always used to see these and swear I wouldn't write them and what do I do but write not one, but two. If you happened to read Day Late Friends (which also features this hapless triangle, though with a lesser focus on Avery) please note that it is not quite a continuation or expansion on that story. This is taking that theme and twisting the characters a quarter in another direction to see where they would wander. I also want to apologize for the bastardization of the sub-characters as I'm not comfortable nor accustomed to writing them, especially when dialogue is involved. And speaking of dialogue, I must admit there is way more talking in this than I anticipated.

In regards to the style, spoken speech is generally indicated through italics and with my usual queer aversion to names, though they do drop in occasionally.

Also feel it worth mentioning I am LIVID that I exceeded the word count and that I have to break this fic up into... who knows how many parts yet. For now, consider this part three!

Prompt: I realize I'm way past my due date (and what I failure I was!) but I still think it's fun to tag the prompts to these. So here we go with #40. I could swallow the seas to wash down all this pride. Check out this link to see what remains to be taken.

#38. Can't take my eyes off of you

  • Mar. 26th, 2009 at 11:55 PM
Dios: Not hoping for anything
Title: Cleverly Seduced
Series: Bleach
Spoilers: Through most of the Soul Society Arc. So let's say books 6 through 21 just to be safe. Or at least up until chapter 170?
Characters: Aizen Sousuke (sort of) and Hinamori Momo mostly with a dash of Hitsugaya Toushirou.
Pairing(s): Aizen x Hinamori, or maybe it's more Hinamori-->Aizen...? Or better yet Hitsugaya-->Hinamori-->Aizen? Love (congo??) line! ... Only, no, definitely not. It's only shippy if you squint.
Author Notes: Perhaps one of the more pretentious pieces I've ever taken a hand to. Yes, I actually took the time (sleeping time!) to greatly consider the structure. Marvel at it! The end mirrors the beginning and there is a specific number of sentences for each portion (though as usual the rules of grammar are thrown to the wind!). Originally I had wanted each piece to be f, e, d, ect, but when I realized I needed a part 2 (or side a/b, in the case of how it turned out), I figured I'd copy Kubo-san's style (sorry!). Is it odd that I was surprised by how long this fic turned out to be?? By the way, the title and cut-tag are courtesy of 10 Years "the Recipe". Oh, and, um, you'll have to read the fic to get my last "spoilery" note.
Prompt: #38. Can't take my eyes off of you. Yeah I'm still doing this (dammit!) so see what's taken or what's left.

Honestly honesty's a fable in love... )

Twelve Is December

  • Jan. 1st, 2009 at 1:42 AM
Clover: So long and goodbye
Title: Twelve is December
Series: Actually, I'm not going to say because it doesn't really touch on anything specifically.
Characters: Viveca (Viv) & Samuel (Sam, Sammy) are the focus of this one. Viveca has an older brother by the name of Eddie and Sam has an older sister named Simone. There are a few guest appearances by Roger, Eddie's best friend, and Wendy, Viveca's best friend. Wendy herself has two brothers named Jonathan (Johnny) who is two years older and Peter (Petey) who is one year younger.
Word Count: 8, 648
Author Notes: Let me start off by saying this is the piece of writing that never ever should have come into creation. Ever. Except for the small insignificant fact that it hounded me at night while I was sleeping until I grudgingly put a few words down on paper.

And now this happened. An epic of semi-stagnant woe!fluff proportions that is, perhaps, enough to make your teeth rot. Not to mention that I drop character names like a surprise attack--mainly because I hadn't intended on using any. Perhaps one day I should settle on a style. And speaking of style—yes, I chose British spelling on purpose.

Anyway, I'm still not satisfied with the title but the cut tag is lyrics taken from the Hush Sound. Maybe I can blame some of my mania on them...

And while you kiss everybody but me... )

#46. Now We're Sharing the Same Dream

Sissy: Wounded and broken
Title: Wake Up
Series: Harry Potter
Spoilers: Er... I can't remember when these two characters were mentioned.... We didn't get a first name for one of the characters until book 7 though...
Characters: Andrew Travers, Marlene McKinnon.
Pairing(s): Travers x Marlene, if we can really call this that. Something past is definitely implied?
Author Notes: This did not turn out how I intended it to. At all. It went from being an entirely dialogue based fic to something else entirely. Actually the entire idea for this was based off of two other characters but because one of them was not at all canon, I substituted these two instead (which work just as well). As I've been trying to write this for the last two months across scattered pieces of paper, I've found that I was unsuccessful on all accounts. I'm annoyed that I didn't capture the right feel or quality or pacing or mood and actually the more I think about it, the more I consider this a failure but, hey, it's here now, and maybe I'll revamp it later. Or maybe I'll rewrite it later. Note to self, more reasons not to write at midnight.
Prompt: 46. Now we're sharing the same dream. No idea what number anymore but the list can be found here

#45. Power of Persuasion

Title: Two Can Play That Game
Series: Harry Potter
Spoilers: Um, none but I guess if you've read up to Order of the Phoenix, you'll know what character I'm writing about.
Characters: Remus Lupin & Emmeline Vance.
Pairings: Well, there are only two characters, though past relationships are implied.
Author's Note: Oooh, I've graduated from PG writing up to PG-13. This is the omitted ficlet that was supposed to go with a fanmix but it never quite fit in.
Prompt: I realize I'm way past my due date (and what I failure I was!) but I still think it's fun to tag the prompts to these. So here we go with #45. Power of Persuasion. Check out this link to see what remains to be taken.

#4. Broken Heart

  • Jul. 14th, 2007 at 11:08 PM
Sissy: Wounded and broken
Title: Day Late Friends
Series: Harry Potter
Spoilers: Through all seven books! You heard me!
Characters: Starring Remus Lupin and Emmeline Vance, with a side of a curly haired man (Avery, if you must know). Guest appearances include Sirius Black, James Potter, Peter Pettigrew, Prewett brothers
Pairing(s): Remus x Emmeline, with an implied side of Emmeline and Avery.
Author Notes: I don't think I can actually call this a fanmix because there isn't any music attached (sorry). But here you have it, in spirit and more so in writing. Ugh, does that make this a glorified songfic?? I always swore I wouldn't write these. Anyway, the writing style (and apparent lack of capitalization) was inspired by a fic/fanmix I once read. I can't remember the author at the moment but it was from Chronicles of Narnia fandom if that helps anyone.
Prompt: I realize I'm way past my due date (and what I failure I was!) but I still think it's fun to tag the prompts to these. So here we go with #4. Broken Heart. Check out this link to see what remains to be taken.

#26.) Last Christmas

Yuuko: pretty in pink
Title: Last Christmas
Series: Harry Potter
Spoilers: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and all books before it as this book takes place in the characters' 7th year.
Characters: Too many, but here we go. Bold if the vignette was told from their perspective and this will be listed in the order of their vignette appearance.
12th Night: #33.) Hey go team go go team: Mad-Eye Moody, Elphias Doge, Aberforth Dumbledore, Rubeus Hagrid, Sturgis Podmore, Dedalus Diggle, Mundungus Fletcher, Arthur Weasley, Molly Weasley, Hestia Jones, Fred Weasley, George Weasley.
11th Night: #28.) I can only imagine: Cho Chang, Cedric Diggory, Roger Davies, Viktor Krum, Ludo Bagman, Minerva McGonagall, Madam Maxime, Seamus Finnigan, Lavender Brown, Angelina Johnson, Pomona Sprout.
10th Night: #12. Underpaid Peter Pettigrew, Lord Voldemort, Gideon and Fabian Prewett, Dorcas Meadowes, Marlene McKinnon, Amelia Bones and Emmeline Vance.
9th Night: #6. Bats in the Belfry: Lucius Malfoy, Avery, Antonin Dolohov, Rodolphus Lestrange, Rabastan Lestrange, Jugson, Walden Macnair, Mulciber, Nott.
8th Night: #38.) Cruel Intentions: Ginny Weasley, Pansy Parkinson, Millicent Bullstrode, Daphne Greengrass, Tracey Davis, Vincent Crabbe, Gregory Goyle and Blaise Zabini.
7th Night: #11.) Dark Blue: Neville Longbottom, Dennis Creevey, Colin Creevey, Dean Thomas, Parvati Patil, Padma Patil, and Luna Lovegood.
6th Night: #41.) I lied. I've been lying to you in increasing amounts ever since I told you you look good unshaved a year ago. It's a little experiment, you know, to see where you'd draw the line.: Gabrielle Delacour, Charlie Weasley, Bill Weasley, Fleur Delacour/Weasley, Kingsley Shacklebolt, and Nymphadora Tonks.
5th Night: #43. Once we watched a lazy world go by, now the days seem to fly: Susan Bones, Hannah Abbott, Ernie Macmillan, Justin Finch-Fletchley, and Zacharias Smith.
4th Night: #47. Everybody knows I'm in over my head: Draco Malfoy, Severus Snape, Fenrir Greyback, and Yaxley.
3rd Night: #18. Look like a train wreck: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger.
2nd Night: #13. Snow White, Rose Red: Narcissa Malfoy and Bellatrix Black.
1st Night: #21. Comfort Food: Remus Lupin.
Pairing(s): So many. Too many?
Author's Note: Okay, so I deviated a little bit from the actual prompt, I'll admit. What's more is that I'm following the older version of the Twelve Days to Christmas Song. I chose the spelling "pateridge" instead of "partridge" and "Colly Birds" (which are black birds by the way) instead of the modern "Calling birds". And imagine "golden ring necked pheasants" at the Gold Rings part please. Not that these birds will have much to do with the fic itself I think. I guess I should also note that these aren't all warm and fuzzy which was my original intention (believe it or not) but somehow I managed with a collection of negative and creepy. Hmm. Adding Cedric's name into the prose as an after thought in the 11th Night. Originally written as separate pieces (one per night) and this is now completely AU by the way now that book 7 came out. For the record, these were mostly written BEFORE. Way before.
Prompt: #26.) Last Christmas is from another prompt set. Refer to the Character lists for the Night Specific prompt lists.

#34. Here nor there

  • Nov. 25th, 2006 at 5:02 PM
Arashi: Hurricane
Title: Counting the Ways (or the Artistry of Breaking the Easily Broken)
Series: Bleach
Spoilers: Through most of the Soul Society Arc. So let's say books 6 through 21 just to be safe.
Characters: Aizen Sousuke and Hinamori Momo.
Pairing(s): Aizen x Hinamori, if we can really call this that.
Author Notes: Another prompt I never intended on using. I suppose what's narrowing down the field is the knowledge that there are certain prompts I am attempting to save for fanart (that still may or may not happen). On a better note, with the previous fic (which is of no relation to this in terms of the storyline) I have finally found a page break style that I like. And yeah, I realize the concepts are not too original and that Aizen could probably come up with something more creative but … go figure. T’was the mood I was after. Oh yeah, and I do imagine peach blossoms for the last bit (was that a spoiler?). Dumb, I know because her name refers to it but, hey... Imagery. It's the name of the game.
Prompt: #34. Here nor there. That makes it a grand 11 now with 14 (or 39?!) more to go until December 31st!

She is a doll and dolls are made to be broken. )

#28. Personal Hell

  • Nov. 24th, 2006 at 11:23 PM
Rukia: Break Right Through
Title: If Things Were Different
Series: Bleach
Spoilers: Through most of the Soul Society Arc. So let's say books 6 through 21 just to be safe.
Characters: Hitsugaya Toushirou and Hinamori Momo with mentions of Aizen Sousuke.
Pairing(s): Hinamori x Hitsugaya. (I know, it seems I whore certain characters out.)
Author Notes: I tried to write this twice. This is actually my re-started version of what I originally wanted to write (the previous one didn't get beyond the first three sentences, unfortunately.) Here is yet another example of me taking a theme, running with it and flogging it until the reader is black and blue in the face. I know, I'm sorry! It appears this is as far as my writing stretches. I also kept changing my mind on the prompt to use and I went with this one because my other choice didn't feel quite right (gasp, shock, does this mean this pairing will be featured in the prompt-not-chosen? Maybe. Hopefully. I think the prompt would be perfect if only the words would form right.)
Prompt: #28. Personal Hell. That makes it a whopping 10 now with 15 (or 40?!) more to go until December 31st!

He never gets to choose his own time... )

#22. Below the Radar

  • Nov. 19th, 2006 at 11:27 PM
Dios: Not hoping for anything
Title: Cool Hands and Fever Dreams
Series: Bleach
Spoilers: Pre-Soul Society arc but... uh, you know, it's circling around the Shinigami so... yeah. We'll say spoilers up until book... 15 because I think everyone by that point knows who the missing captain was from the meeting by that point. Spoilers in my comments though for the end of the Soul Society arc so book 21.
Characters: Ukitake Jyuushirou and Unohana Retsu (yeah, yeah used to the last names first yet?)
Pairing(s): Ukitake x Unohana (I think its obvious in the fic...)
Author Notes: A lot of double negatives and I apologize for that. The black and white in my mind called for double negatives and it makes sense in a way that I'm finding hard to describe now that I'm attempting to. So let's leave that at that. This fic took me a long time to write--I started it in two different parts and it got a lot more shippy than I intended. Oops. Not to mention I think Unohana is a bit too coy but really, if they ever did actually get together, they'd be like two mountains never moving so I guess something has to give. And I justify this fic, in my head, by thinking that there is a quiet cheek about her as proven when she "warns" (threatens?) the 11th division blokes at the end of the Soul Society arc. Not that that has anything to do with this fic. Oh yeah, this fic sort of takes place probably Soul Society rescue mission thing. I also had a hard time trying to match this up with a prompt and a title. In case you are curious, no I don't like the title either.
Prompt: #22. Below the Radar. That's makes it 9 now with 16 (or 41?!) more to go until December 31st!

She is there again. )

#9. Ideological differences

  • Nov. 18th, 2006 at 11:50 PM
Sara & Setsuna: Change the world
Title: All That Is Left Unsaid
Series: Bleach
Spoilers: Through most of the Soul Society Arc. So let's say books 6 through 21 just to be safe.
Characters: Unohana Retsu and Aizen Sousuke (yeah, yeah I'm writing last name first... It sounds better in my head.)
Pairing(s): Aizen x Unohana (and its more obvious this time)
Author Notes: I debated long and hard whether to keep this as one continuous piece with Questions Without Answers but in the end I felt like it would disrupt the flow which is why I split this fic into two parts. So... hopefully it's not too bad this way. I swear I'm not doing this in order to knock out another prompt! Just in case you missed it, read Questions Without Answers first. This will make more sense, maybe.
Prompt: #9. Ideological differences. That's makes it 8 now with 17 (or 42?!) more to go until December 31st!

Closer, let me whisper in your ear...  )

Title: Questions Without Answers
Series: Bleach
Spoilers: Through most of the Soul Society Arc. So let's say books 6 through 21 just to be safe.
Characters: Unohana Retsu and Aizen Sousuke (yeah, yeah I'm writing last name first... It sounds better in my head.)
Pairing(s): Aizen x Unohana. Yeah, I know, random.
Author Notes: The fic in which I suck at clever dialogue, apparently. By the way, in my head this fic is set in a time where Byakuya and Renji have set out to retrieve Rukia and before the whole Rescue thing.
Prompt: #39. I've got a secret, a good one. That's a whopping 7 now with 18 (or 43?!) more to go until December 31st!

Do you want to know a secret )

#44. Overrated

  • Nov. 15th, 2006 at 2:11 PM
Arashi: Hurricane
Title: Pumpkin Eater, in Which Death is Overrated
Series: Harry Potter
Spoilers: Marauder Era and then sort of not. Let's say up until Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to be safe.
Characters: Peter Pettigrew. Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, James Potter, Bertha Jorkins also make brief appearances.
Pairing(s): None intended despite the implications of the rhyme.
Author Note: Another one that got away from me. This piece was supposed to be strictly Marauder Era and then... wow, I don't know what happened. What's most ironic to me is that I never intended to use this prompt... Oh well.
Prompt: #44 Overrated. That's 6 down 19 (or is it 44?!) more to go until December 31st.

#32. Diamonds are a girl's best friend

  • Nov. 14th, 2006 at 1:44 PM
Clover: So long and goodbye
Title: Black Pearls but Forever Diamonds
Series: Harry Potter
Spoilers: Marauder Era ... But not really.
Characters: Narcissa Black/Malfoy, Bellatrix Black/Lestrange, Lucius Malfoy, Rodolphus Lestrange, Rabastan Lestrange, Barty Crouch Jr.
Pairing(s): Narcissa x Lucius. Uh, Bellatrix x Rodolphus in the matrimony sense...
Author Notes: Hmm, this got away from me too. I wasn't sure about the placement of the segments as originally I had them in a non-chronological order which I sort of liked but I figured that the abundance of she pronouns were confusing enough.
Prompt: #32 Diamonds are a girl's best friend. There are 5 now under my belt with 20 (or 45?!) more to go until December 31st!

Diamonds are forever, darling. )
Nadeshiko: Flowers that bloom for you
Title: Last Good Person
Series: Harry Potter
Spoilers: Made for some interlude in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince that is completely AU because we know Harry prefers to spend his time wangsting and dreaming about Draco than he does socializing with Luna (the bastard).
Characters: Harry Potter, Luna Lovegood.
Pairing(s): Harry Potter and Luna Lovegood.
Author Notes: This was surprisingly hard. Or maybe, not so surprisingly. Harry, why are you so hard to write?! This seriously was like pulling teeth. I'm really unhappy with the piece but I just wanted it done, in the end. And to top if off, what's going on with my tense changes?!
Prompt: #50 "You are the last good person here. I believe cartoon birds braided your hair this morning." There are 4 now under my belt with 21 (or 46?!) more to go until December 31st!

He didn't really know what to make of her most of the time... )

#15. Sins, Not Tragedies

  • Oct. 30th, 2006 at 1:24 PM
Suu: Dream within a Dream
Title: Sins, Not Tragedies
Series: Harry Potter
Spoilers: Definitely for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Maybe it's AU? I don't really know.
Characters: Ginny Weasley and Tom Riddle.
Pairing(s): None.
Author's Note: And no, I'm not a Tom/Ginny shipper though I do like the idea of her being Tom Riddle puppet simply because there is nothing more fun. (And yeah, suffice to say, Ginny Weasley is not my favorite character though I'm unsure if it shows in my writing or not). Initially I was inclined to keep it short and I had an ending I was happy with yet... I felt the need to further the piece. Yeesh. I can't yet decide yet if it was to the piece's detriment.
Prompt: #15. Sins, Not Tragedies. That makes it 3 down, 22 more (or 47?!) to go until December 31st.

And she dreams... )

#24. Caught in the Moment

Title: Nothing Else
Series: Bleach
Spoilers: Most of the Soul Society arc so... like from books 12 to 20.
Characters: Hinamori Momo, Aizen Sousuke, and mentions of Hitsugaya Toushirou. (Don't be confused, last names first!)
Pairing(s): One sided love-thang only kids. Unrequited love is my cup of tea.
Author's Note: Another example of my love of repetition getting the best of me in my prose. I also admit guilt to indulging in a bit of word play. That being said I'm not sure how happy I am with the piece. Or maybe I'm becoming too preoccupied with word choices... And yes, I do realize I stretched the prompt, like taffy, long and far. Shh.
Prompt: #24. Caught in the Moment. 2 down, 23 (or 48?!) more to go before December 31st...)

Title: No Love, No Glory, No Hero in Her Sky
Series: Harry Potter
Spoilers: Possibly Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It's definitely a post story in any case.
Characters: Parvati Patil. Mentions of Padma Patil, Dean Thomas and Draco Malfoy.
Pairing(s): Implied Draco Malfoy & Parvati Patil. At least, in my head it is, I swear.
Author's Note: The story sort of wiggled away from me the more I wrote. And I mean really wriggled. Sadly, this isn't particularly how I picture Parvati either. Oi. Is that a good thing to admit?
Prompt: #37 No love no glory, No hero in her sky. 1 down, 24 (49?!) more to go before December 31st...)
